FEBRUARY 13, 2011 – REGULAR MEETING OF JSTT
The meeting was called to order by president Lars Skaar. Those in attendance were
Lars, Marian Olive, LeRoy Kester. Carol Reed, Cathy Hermanson, Gloria Sampson, Sue
Braland, Rhonda Hampton.
There was no reading of the secretaries’ minutes as she was absent and no one had a
copy.
LeRoy presented the treasurers’ report. He also reported that he had brought our charge
card compliance up to date until Dec. 2012. Also, the troupe is in compliance with Ia.
Sec. of State per requirements of law pertaining to a non-profit organization.
Marian moved and Cathy seconded that LeRoy’s reports be accepted.
Old Business
Marian did not have an update on the whistle blowers report. She will as soon as she gets
a sample copy.
A discussion was held on the cost of renting the sound equipment from Derek. After
much discussion Rhonda moved and Cathy seconded that Lars appoint a committee to
investigate the possibility of the troupe purchasing our own sound equipment and bring
back a report to the board at a late date. Motion carried.
There was a brief discussion about the lack of a Tasty Tidbit theater this year and what
are some solutions. Nothing was decided.
Lars suggested that perhaps there should be a contract for actors to sign requiring them to
help with backstage tasks at the discretion of the director. They would be required to sign
this at the time of auditions. This will be included in the packets for “Little Women.”
New Business
Auditions for “Little Women” are Mar 5 & 6 in the music room of the elementary school.
Auditioners should come with a prepared song, be prepared to read from the script and
also to sing a song from the production. Audition packets will be available at Norsemen
Realty later this week. The read thru is scheduled for Mar. 12 at our space in the mall.
Lars will set up a meeting with Todd to discuss rising costs at the theater. Probably will
take Lance Harding with him to this meeting. Our goal is to lower production costs if
possible.
Marian came as a representative of Chamber asking if the troupe would like to contribute
to the restoration fund of the Charlson Building. A $1000.00 donation would get our
name on a plaque. No action was taken.
Gloria asked if JSTT has ever done a summer program for kids. Kind of like a drama
camp. Discussion. No action taken.
Meeting adjourned.
